The Coach

I'm a passionate athlete who loves working with people. I obtained my Marketing Degree in 2018 at the University of the Free State and currently live in Pretoria. My dream has always been to coach.

Here is a short description of my Athletic achievements.

It all started in 2008. Running youth u/17, in our champs in meant being 17 years old. I was only 16. I made South African Champs final in the 800m and 1500m. I enjoyd the 800m more but the 1500m final was first to come. Me and my coach decided to just go out and give it my all in the 1500m. I had a 4,04 PB and knew the race could be won in under 4min. I took the lead from the start and outran them all in the last 100m. I won my first national title in the  Youth boys 1500m in a time of 3,58.

In 2009 being 17 years old, i was only focusing on the 800m at National Champs. I won National Youth Champs in a time of 1,51,3

In 2010 I was 18 years old. Ran South African Junior Champs (boys 19 and younger). I won SA Champs in a time of 1,50.2. The World Junior Champs qualifying was a 1,52,00. Our Athletic body gave us a window period in wich we had to run the qualifying time again. I was not able to do this and missed my chanches of competing at World Junior Champs seeing it was only every 2 years.

In 2011 i had a big break through at our National Champs running a time of 1,48,7 still being a Junior. Sadly there was no World Junior Champs in 2011 but i managed to qualify for African Junior Champs. I had a bad race and fell out in the heats.

2012 - My biggest race and moment in my Athletic career, South African Senior Champs i made the final being only 20 years old. This meant I was top 8 in SA. I knew i had nothing to lose in the final and training was going well. I came 3rd with a time of 1,46,36! winning the race was 2009 World Champion Mbuleni Mulaudzi in 1,45,7 and 2nd Commen Wealth Games Bronze Medalist 2014 Andre Olivier in a time of 1,46,1. I made the team to African Senior Champs but fell out in the Semi Finals.

2013 - I only managed a time of 1,47,1. I made the SA team to World Student Games. I made the final and managed a good 6th place. Nijel Amos won in a time of 1,46,6. the 2nd guy ran 1,47,2 and i was 6th with a 1,47,7. Was happy with my year being World Student nr6.

2014 - In 2014 i ran a time of 1,46,68 with Andre Olivier in the local season. It was set to be the best season with training going very well and then came my first real injury. Hurting my calf muscle and that led to struggling with my entire europe season with a achillis.

I started off my 2015 season with a 600m and ran a blazing 1,15,58 the South African record being 1,15,08. Its set to be a good season for me.

2015 July I won bronze at the World Student Games Korea Gwanju. I also went on and competed in the IAAF World Champs August in Beijing.

2016 African Champs 800m bronze medalist

My first Olympic Games running my heat 1.45.67  2nd behind David Rudisha.

semi final 1.45.33 and 5th just missing out on running them final.

Finished the RIO Olympic Games 13th overall.

2017 I had a rollercoaster season but managed a 1.45.73 at the Stockholm Diamond league meeting wich was my Season Best time. I also made World Student Games final 2017 in Taipei.

2018 I ran my personal best 800m time of 1.45,15. I represented South Africa at the 1st World Cup athletics and got a 6th place.
